2017 - Present

From 2015 to the present, ACA meetings have continued to modernize and streamline their operations. The traditional role of local chairs was retired in favor of a more centralized planning model, while new positions—such as dedicated poster chairs—were introduced to strengthen the quality and visibility of the poster program. During this time, the ACA also adapted to unprecedented challenges: the 2020 and 2021 meetings were held entirely virtually due to the global pandemic, showcasing the community’s resilience and commitment to scientific exchange. The ACA further enhanced its preservation of the scientific record by first archiving abstracts in the IUCr database and now publishing them in Structural Dynamics, ensuring permanent, citable access to the research presented each year. Looking ahead, the organization aims to publish comprehensive statistics for each meeting to provide deeper insight into participation, program composition, and long-term trends.
