Dr. Craig M. Brown, a NIST Fellow and Director of the Center for High-Resolution Neutron Scattering (CHRNS), is recognized as one of the leading figures in neutron scattering and structural analysis of energy-relevant materials. His pioneering research has advanced the understanding of hydrogen storage, gas separation, and catalysis, particularly through the study of microporous materials such as metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and zeolites. Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Brown has published more than 250 technical papers, contributing profoundly to both academic and applied materials research. His collaborative approach has bridged research communities across U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories and universities, while his leadership at CHRNS has fostered a thriving environment for education, mentorship, and innovation in neutron science. Dr. Brown’s accomplishments have been recognized with numerous prestigious honors, including the Samuel Wesley Stratton Award, the DOE Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program R&D Award, the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), and the Neutron Scattering Society of America Science Prize. His enduring influence continues to shape the field of neutron diffraction and inspire future generations of structural scientists. |
